Adipose tissue is an active endocrine organ that is involved in energy homeostasis, appetite regulation, glucose & lipid metabolism. In obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus, adipocytes undergo enlargement with reduction in capillary density and become dysfunctional leading to hypoxia, inflammation and altered adipose metabolism. There is dysregulation of adipokine secretion. The present study was thus hypothesized to explore effect of Triphala, a known formulation with potential anti inflammatory, anti oxidant, hepatoprotective potential for regulation of adipose dysfunction. The study will be conducted in 20 obese prediabetic individuals who will be administered Triphala intervention for 3 months and parameters of adipose dysfunction will be assessed prior and post treatment.
